An Invitation To Worship

This post was originally written several years ago and has been lightly edited for clarity and relevance. It reflects my thoughts and experiences from that season of life.

When I first heard Louie Giglio share a composition created from the sounds of nature at a Chris Tomlin concert, it completely rocked my world. It changed the way I hear creation and deepened the way I worship my King.

I was reminded of that moment again this past weekend while spending time on a leadership retreat.

We stood around a bonfire, singing praises to God. The mighty ocean crashed beside us, the fire crackled nearby, stars stretched above our heads, and our voices carried into the quiet of an empty beach—except for a dog barking in the distance, which I like to believe was his way of singing too. Standing shoulder to shoulder with others walking the same journey, I felt overwhelmed in the best way.

I am so small. I am a speck on tiny’s back.

No matter where we are or how we worship, God hears it all. Can you imagine the symphony He hears every moment of every day? He doesn’t need us to sing praises to Him—creation is already doing that. And yet, He invites us to join the song.

That truth is incredibly humbling.
