More Than “Good Thoughts”

Have you ever had someone randomly pop into your mind?

I have, many times, and I’ve learned to pause and pray for them when it happens. This morning, someone came to mind, and as I was sending them “good thoughts,” I felt a gentle conviction from the Holy Spirit. I might be the only one, in that moment, praying for them.

Good thoughts are kind.
But prayers carry power.

My grandmother prayed over me daily. We often talked about the things she lifted up to God on my behalf. What an incredible gift. I’m convinced that many of her prayers landed at the exact moments I needed them, without her ever knowing.

Could the Holy Spirit work without my grandmother’s prayers? Of course. But God invites us into partnership with Him. He allows us to participate, to intercede, and to show up for one another in ways we may never fully see. He is always inviting us, if we keep our hearts open.

So here’s my encouragement for today: If someone comes to mind, pause and say a quick prayer for them. You might be the only one available in that moment.

“With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18
